Postdoctoral position in Computational Biology
Department of Computer Science invites applications for a postdoctoral position
A postdoctoral position in the group of Computational Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Comenius University Bratislava, Slovakia is open starting in December 2026. The scientific aim of the research is to study computational problems related to detecting and analyzing plasmid sequences in data from high-throughput DNA sequencing of bacterial genomes. In particular, the researcher will concentrate on the problem of plasmid binning, where the goal is to group detected plasmid contigs into bins corresponding to the actual plasmid molecules.
We are offering a postdoctoral position starting from December 1st, 2026. The contract length is 1 year with the possibility of extension up to 3 years.
Expectations from the candidate:
- background in bioinformatics,
- experience with bacterial genomics,
- PhD in a related area (including computer science, mathematics, life sciences),
- good knowledge of the English language,
- at most 3 years from the PhD defense as of July 1, 2026,
- age under 35 years as of July 1, 2026
