Mgr. Adam Sitarčík:
Production of neutron-deficient astatine and radon isotopes in complete-fusion reactions
Abstract:
Complete-fusion reactions are one of a few possibilities to synthesise short-lived neutron-deficient nuclei. However, the production and study of the new exotic isotopes keeps getting more and more experimentally challenging. The precise theoretical calculations of the expected reaction yields are therefore critical for the success of future measurements. Fission-barrier height is one of the important parameters entering the theoretical calculations. By confrontation of the calculated excitation functions with experimental data we derived a fission-barrier scaling systematics for astatine and radon compound nuclei, similar to the one previously established in bismuth and polonium nuclei. Interestingly, the very neutron-deficient isotopes required a significantly larger reduction of the fission barrier than the trend predicted. Could this be the hint of quasi-fission hindering the creation of the nuclei? The newly-obtained data and results for very neutron-deficient astatine isotopes will be presented as well.
