The graduate will gain an overview of the representative cross-section of key disciplines of modern mathematics, get acquainted with the most important abstract and specific mathematical structures and connections between them. They will learn to solve problems in various mathematical areas using the results of several mathematical disciplines and computer technology. His theoretical knowledge will be linked to the creation of mathematical models and knowledge of their applications in other disciplines (physics, chemistry, biology, construction, electrical engineering, economics). Last but not least, they will acquire the ability to think critically and logically, the ability to acquire new knowledge and flexibility in their modification and use. In addition, the study program provides the student with the opportunity and space, and at the same time forces him to do so, according to his own discretion and interest, to independently expand and supplement his professional profile by choosing subjects from the offer of other study programs of our faculty.
In the study program, we develop deeper three basic topics, according to which we also named the blocks of compulsory elective courses:
- mathematical analysis
- mathematical structures
- numerical mathematics.
The group of offered elective subjects consists of subjects that complement the subjects of the core of the study program. The student has the opportunity to choose from this offer of elective courses according to their abilities and interests and thus actively participate in specifying their professional profile.
With the diploma thesis, the student has to demonstrate the ability to independently acquire theoretical and practical knowledge based on the current state of science and creatively apply, use and develop them. The final thesis will be prepared by the student under the guidance of the thesis supervisor. The supervisor of the final thesis will prepare a written report on the final thesis and propose its evaluation. The final work is assessed by the opponent. The best of our graduates continue their doctoral studies, whether at domestic or foreign universities. Graduates have the opportunity to apply in basic research as university teachers or members of research or research teams in industry, software companies or the financial sector - wherever it is necessary to create mathematical models of various phenomena and situations and use them to seek answers to the relevant department, to propose technical solutions or to take decisions.
