Description of the Study Program

Preparation of students to be mathematics teachers in combination in the field of study 38. Teacher Training and Education Science within the 1st level of university study is a basic prerequisite for continuing studies at the 2nd level of university study in the relevant field of study and program and for obtaining a full qualification for the teaching profession. The study program is a study of a combination of two disciplines. The basic task of this study program is to ensure quality training of mathematics teachers for lower and upper schools. The graduate has basic theoretical knowledge of psychology and pedagogy, adequately masters the content of mathematics disciplines, which form an extension of the mathematics curriculum of primary and secondary school (algebra, geometry, mathematical analysis and combinatorics, probability, and mathematical statistics,) and work with information and communication technologies. He is thus ready for follow-up studies in the second stage, which will give him a full qualification to teach mathematics.

The graduate of the bachelor's study program will deepen and expand their knowledge of school mathematics and selected parts of the mathematical disciplines that form the superstructure of school mathematics. The main subjects of the study program are therefore the basics of mathematical analysis, algebra, geometry and combinatorics, probability, and mathematical statistics. Elective courses are aimed at deepening and expanding knowledge of school mathematics.

Graduates of the 1st degree of university studies (Bc.) in the study program teaching mathematics in combination are qualified to perform the profession of teaching assistant, teaching assistant or as yet unqualified teacher at the secondary education level (according to current legislation) and work in school and out-of-school facilities staff, event. as animators. They have knowledge and experience of education in various pedagogical and psychological disciplines explicitly related to the teaching profession (developmental and educational psychology, educational theory, general didactics, school management), they can put them into a broader context, connect and apply them in themselves. practice under the guidance of experienced professionals, training teachers. They understand the connections between the theory of education and teaching and pedagogical practice. They will acquire skills in the use of digital technologies in the teaching process and their application in the teaching of mathematics. During the bachelor's study, with regard to the future profession and the content of education, they developed evenly in three areas. Their knowledge base includes the basics of all disciplines of the respective two profile educational areas, or specializations and pedagogical-psychological disciplines.

What to Expect

The study program is a set of subjects and a set of rules compiled in such a way that successful completion of the subjects while maintaining the above rules allows the student to obtain a university degree. For each study program, a recommended study plan is set, which is compiled so that by completing it, the student meets the conditions for successful completion of studies within its standard length. The creation of the study plan is usually based on the modular (block) principle in order to enable students to continuously adjust the focus within the chosen field of study and expand the scope of the study. The study plan is divided into compulsory, optional, and elective subjects. The subject consists of individual independent educational activities or their combination, which are aimed at providing education in a defined area.

The profile subjects of the study plan are compulsory or optional subjects, and the student will acquire the knowledge and skills that are essential for the completion of the study program.

The updating of study programs reflecting the development in the area is realized by elective subjects, which enable the use of short-term presence outside the faculty experts in the teaching process. The inclusion of several (selective) subjects in the programs is a response to the constructive comments of students and their interest in a particular area.

When creating the study plan, the mission and goals set by the faculty in the field of science and research and in the field of education, which are stated in the Faculty's Long-Term Plan, are taken into account. The study program is prepared in accordance with the needs of practice and monitors the applicability of graduates.

Final Thesis

With the bachelor's thesis, the student has to demonstrate the ability to independently acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and use them. The final thesis will be prepared by the student under the guidance of the thesis supervisor. The supervisor of the final thesis will prepare a written report on the final thesis and propose its evaluation. The final work is assessed by the opponent. The opponent will prepare a written report on the final thesis and propose its evaluation.

Graduates' Career Opportunities

At the time of graduation, the graduate is ready to perform the positions of teaching assistant (teaching assistant), unqualified teacher (according to applicable legislation), and support and support staff, event. as an animator in school and out-of-school facilities.

The graduate is prepared for a follow-up study in the second stage, which will give him a full qualification to teach mathematics. A graduate who does not continue in the follow-up master's study program may find employment as a teaching assistant and educator, or an employee of non-formal education organizations.
