Description of the Study Program
Preparation of students of teaching descriptive geometry in combination in the field of study 38. Teaching Training and Education Sciences within the 1st level of university study is a basic prerequisite for continuing studies at the 2nd level of university study in the relevant field of study and program and for obtaining a full qualification for the profession teacher. The study program is a study of a combination of two disciplines.
Graduates of the 1st degree of university studies (Bc.) In the study program teaching of descriptive geometry in combination are qualified to perform the profession of teaching assistant, teaching assistant or as yet unqualified teacher at secondary level (according to current legislation) and work in school and out-of-school facilities as support and auxiliary staff, event. as animators.
They have knowledge and experience of education in the field of various pedagogical and psychological disciplines explicitly related to the teaching profession (developmental and educational psychology, educational theory, general didactics, school management), they can put them into a broader context, connect and apply them in themselves. practice under the guidance of experienced professionals, training teachers. They understand the connections between the theory of education and teaching and pedagogical practice. They will acquire skills in the use of digital technologies in the teaching process and their application in the teaching of descriptive geometry. During the bachelor's study, with regard to the future profession and the content of education, they developed evenly in three areas. Their knowledge base includes the basics of all disciplines of the respective two profile educational areas, or specializations and pedagogical-psychological disciplines.
What to Expect
The study program is a set of subjects and a set of rules compiled in such a way that successful completion of the subjects while maintaining the above rules allows the student to obtain a university degree. For each study program, a recommended study plan is set, which is compiled so that by completing it, the student meets the conditions for successful completion of studies within its standard length. The creation of the study plan is usually based on the modular (block) principle in order to enable students to continuously adjust the focus within the chosen field of study and expand the scope of the study. The study plan is divided into compulsory, optional, and elective subjects. The subject consists of individual independent educational activities or their combination, which are aimed at providing education in a defined area. The profile subjects of the study plan are compulsory or optional subjects, and the student will acquire the knowledge and skills that are essential for the completion of the study program. The updating of study programs reflecting the development in the area is realized by elective subjects, which enable the use of short-term presence outside the faculty experts in the teaching process. The inclusion of several (selective) subjects in the programs is a response to the constructive comments of students and their interest in a particular area. When creating the study plan, the mission and goals set by the faculty in the field of science and research and in the field of education, which are stated in the Faculty's Long-Term Plan, are taken into account. The study program is prepared in accordance with the needs of practice and monitors the applicability of graduates.
Final Thesis
With the bachelor's thesis, the student has to demonstrate the ability to independently acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and use them. The final thesis will be prepared by the student under the guidance of the thesis supervisor. The supervisor of the final thesis will prepare a written report on the final thesis and propose its evaluation. The final work is assessed by the opponent. The opponent will prepare a written report on the final thesis and propose its evaluation.
Examples of successful final theses of our students (only in SK language):
- Máté Eke: Konfigurácie významných bodov trojuholníka (2022)
- Kristína Králiková: Dynamická vizualizácia rovinných rezov kružnicovej valcovej plochy (2019)
- Alžbeta Mackovová: Metrické vlastnosti elipsy (2016)
Graduates' Career Opportunities
At the time of graduation, the graduate is ready to perform the positions of teaching assistant (teaching assistant), unqualified teacher (according to applicable legislation) and support and support staff, event. as an animator in school and out-of-school facilities.
Due to current legislation, the graduate of the study program is not fully qualified to teach descriptive geometry at grammar schools and secondary proffesional schools. However, he is professionally prepared so that he can successfully continue his studies at the 2nd level of higher education in the subject specialization Descriptive Geometry and after graduating to obtain the full qualification of teaching descriptive geometry and the second approbation subject, in our case mathematics. If the graduate does not continue his / her secondary education, he / she is able to assist primary and secondary school teachers in the preparation of the teaching process. He can participate in the preparation of visual aids, including assistance in the use of pedagogical software in the subject of descriptive geometry and technical drawing in secondary vocational schools. He can also take part in leading hobby groups in schools and youth clubs and centers, or work in the state administration for education and training.
Among the traditional tasks of the study of descriptive geometry teachers is to ensure quality training of descriptive geometry teachers and related applications - computer-aided design, computer geometry, technical drawing for secondary schools (grammar schools, secondary vocational schools, vocational schools) subjects Descriptive Geometry and Technical Drawing. Graduates are prepared for technical universities, for faculties of mechanical engineering and civil engineering, faculty of architecture (subjects Descriptive or structural geometry and its applications, building constructions, reconstruction of reality from images, applied arts of art and especially industrial design,…), for faculties of science of universities , where the basics of the correct depiction of spatial units in the curriculum of future teachers. We also train experts in the field of computer graphics (modern computer-aided modeling in a broader context (eg architecture, construction, engineering, furniture design, game design, etc.).
Solid training in the field of descriptive geometry, training in solving not only geometrically oriented tasks and a high degree of computer literacy give graduates of the submitted study program very good prospects of employment in the labor market outside the education sector, not only in Slovakia.
