Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics
Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics is an educational and research institute. In the area of education, the department provides bachelor programs: Economic and Financial Mathematics, Insurance Mathematics; master programs: Mathematical Economics, Finacnce and Modeling Modelling, Probability and Mathematical Statistics; doctoral programs: Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Analysis.
Research at the department is focused on the fields of partial differential equations, dynamical systems, mathematical programming, optimal control theory, and scientific computing. Further research areas include non-linear methods in mathematical statistics, optimal design of statistical experiments, quantitative linguistics, applications of mathematical and statistical methods in demography and medicine, insurance and financial mathematics. The department is also involved in the research of macroeconomic modelling, microeconomics and game theory, financial modelling and econometrics.
The department is currently involved in several national and international research grant projects.
