Connections 2025

MatFyz CONNECTIONS 2025 builds on the success of its first edition and once again opens the doors of FMPI UK to the academic community and wide public. On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Lecture Hall F1 and the Physics Pavilion lobby will become a venue where faculty members, researchers, students, alumni, and professionals from practice come together.
The event offers an opportunity to share scientific results, be inspired by the work of colleagues, and establish new connections across disciplines. In addition to presentations by faculty members and doctoral students, the conference will also feature invited lectures and joint discussions on topics that go beyond the boundaries of individual departments.
An invited lecture about Fluid Dynamics in Porous Media will be delivered by Prof. Andrej Zlatoš from the Department of Mathematics at University of California San Diego and the second lecture on Research into pedagogical forms to support active learning by Prof. Zuzana Kubincová from the Department of Didactics of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, FMFI UK.
This year’s edition is special as the faculty celebrates the 45th anniversary of its founding. The conference will therefore provide space for memories, history of the faculty, and reflections on the future direction of FMFI.
The program will be enriched by a performance of the folklore ensemble Gymnik, adding an artistic dimension on the top of the scientific part of the conference.
