AI Can Do Everything, Except (Maybe) Your PhD: Surviving in NLP
Abstract:
No matter how you take a look at it, it's been a crazy year in anything that can even remotely be called AI (many, many things at this point). It started out with crazy predictions and then the reality got crazier still. And in this new reality many have tried to do what used to be called "NLP research", often with the feeling that this is the last year it might even be relevant. In this talk we'll go over the year, highlight the important milestones and maybe try to shed some light on what does it still make sense to do (particularly in NLP) when AI can do everything.
