Faculty is a world research centre in several scientific areas
FMPI CU is in the ScholarGPS® ranking evaluated as a world research centre in environmental radioactivity, radioanalytical chemistry, nuclear chemistry and plasma physics.
ScholarGPS®, an American company based in California launched the premier online source for the analysis and rating of scientists at universities and other institutions, which is based on scientific publications (journals, books, patents). The compilation of metadata covers more than 200 million publications of over 30 million scholars from 55,000 institutions, as well as rankings of more than 15,000 academic institutions from over 200 countries. Artificial intelligence platforms have been applied for ranking of scholars and institutions in 14 Fields, 177 Disciplines, and over 350,000 Specialities. The rankings are based on a specific quality index, which covers authors‘ productivity, impact, and quality of outputs. However, as only publications up to 20 authors have been evaluated, these rankings do not cover multiauthor papers mostly published in physics (e.g., in particle physics and nuclear physics). Outputs are arranged either in the lifetime mode, or over the recent 5 years.
FMPI CU in lifetime ranking together with FNS CU is a world leader in Radioanalytical chemistry, and in the last 5 years (2018-2022), in the top ten are listed Environmental radioactivity (#3), Radioanalytical chemistry (#5), Nuclear chemistry (#5), and Plasma physics (#8). In the last 5 years mode, Pavel Povinec is listed as #5 in Environmental radioactivity, in Radioanalytical chemistry and also in Nuclear chemistry, and Štefan Matejčík as #22 in Plasma Physics. Behind these successful stories there have been over hundred colleagues from FNS CU, FMPI CU, FPHARM, and from the CU Science Park, whose ratings allowed the faculty to gain such a prominent position in the scientific world, although about 50% of publications (mostly in Physics) have not been included in the evaluations as they exceeded the permitted limit of 20 authors/publication.
