Mathematicians from FMPhI 12th in a competition in Blagoevgrad
Students of our faculty took an excellent 12th position out of 72 participating universities at the 23rd International Mathematics Competition in Blagoevgrad.
International Mathematics Competition for university students was held on July 25 – 31, 2016. The competition consists of two 5-hour rounds, in each of which the students solve problems in algebra, calculus, geometry, and combinatorics. The 23rd annual competition was arranged by the University College London and hosted by the American University in Bulgaria.
Four students of our faculty took part in the competition with the following results:
- Grand First Prize (3rd position, score 82): Martin Vodička
- Second Prize (114th - 118th position, score 45): Pavol Vidlička
- Third Prize (143th - 149th position, score 41): Samuel Horváth
- Third prize (150th – 152th position, score 40): Michal Tóth
In the team competition our faculty won the 12th place, which is close to the accomplishment two years ago. Martin Vodička repeated his achievement – the position among the top five competitors. The rest of the team (Vidlička, Horváth,Tóth) showed a distinguished performance.
