Anna Geyer (TU Delft):
Stability of periodic waves in the generalized reduced Ostrovsky equation

Abstract:
In this talk I will discuss stability and instability of periodic travelling wave solutions of the generalized reduced Ostrovsky equation. Using an argument based on the energy convexity and some dynamical systems techniques, I will show that all smooth periodic travelling waves are spectrally stable, independent of the nonlinearity power. In the second part of the talk I will discuss linear and nonlinear instability of peaked periodic waves.
This is joint work (in progress) with D. Pelinovsky.
