Samuel Kováčik (Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies):
Triple point of a field theory on a fuzzy sphere
Abstract:
Fuzzy sphere is probably the simplest example of a noncommutative space. We will use this opportunity to introduce this subject in a very pedagogical way (this may be considered as the central part of the talk). I will then outline our recent research – a numerical study of a (scalar, quartic) field theory on a fuzzy sphere.
The main result was a confirmation of previous (approximate) analytical studies – the theory does not approach its commutative counterpart in the commutative limit, which is obviously a problem. A proposal for a solution will be described briefly.
