ELECTRON INDUCED IONIZATION, EXCITATION AND DISSOCIATIVE PROCESSES OF MOLECULES AND CLUSTERS RELEVANT FOR FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES. (PROJECT VEGA)
The project is focused on mass spectrometry studies and electron induced fluorescence studies of low-energy electron (up to ~100 ev) interactions with gas phase molecules and clusters. The target molecules will be mainly organometallic compounds relevant for electron induced deposition techniques, as well small hydrocarbons relevant for processes in edge plasma at thermonuclear fusion

Financing of the project: Vedecká grantová agentúra MŠVVaŠ SR a SAV, VEGA 1/0733/17
Duration of the project: 2017-2020
Main goals of the project:
- Interactions of low-energy electrons with molecules relevant for novel techniques using the crossed electron/molecular beams techniques at the Department of Experimental Physics, FMFI UK in Bratislava.
- Studies of the low-energy electron induced dissociative processes via ionization of molecules, molecular clusters or excitation of molecules.
- The main results of this project will be the physical and chemical properties:
- ionization energies of molecules, molecular clusters
- appearance energies of dissociative processes after electron ionization of molecules, molecular clusters
- bond energies in molecular cations and their fragments, cations of molecular clusters and their fragments
- appearance energies of electronic and vibrational excitations in molecules, cross sections
- radiative transitions of electrons between excited and ground states at the electron induced fluorescence
- quantum chemical calculations of geometries for neutral molecules, their charged and neutral fragments identified from experiment
- calculations of ionization energies, reaction energies of fragmentations, corresponding dissociation energies, electron affinities
- The target molecules of electron induced studies will be organometallic compounds interesting for modern technologies based on FEBID (Focused Electron Beam Induced Deposition) and small hydrocarbons and their derivatives relevant for the processes in edge plasma in thermonuclear fusion
