Jozef Širáň (STU Bratislava):
A computer-free classification of orientably-regular maps of genus $p+1$ for prime $p$

Abstract:
In 2010, M. Conder, T. Tucker and the presenter published a classification of orientably-regular maps of genus $p+1$ for primes $p > 13$, with a computer-free proof for $p > 83$; for primes $p$ in the range $17 \le p \le 83$ part of the argument relied on computational results of M. Conder. Classification of such maps for $p\le 7$ was available by earlier results going back to 1930s -- 1980s, however, in a number of cases without explicit proofs.

In the talk we will give an outline of methods and results leading to a computer-free classification of orientably-regular maps of genus $p+1$ for all primes $p\le 83$ (and hence for all primes $p$). This is a report on a joint work with M. Bachraty, M. Conder and J. Siagiova.
