Introduction to quantum information and quantum cryptography

Abstract: 
In this talk we will embark on a captivating journey into the intricate realm of quantum information and quantum cryptography. First we will delve into the foundational principles of quantum mechanics, where particles exist in superposition, and entanglement defies classical intuition. Then we start to unravel some of the mysteries behind quantum cryptography, where the laws of physics enable secure communication beyond the reach of classical eavesdropping. In particular, we will explore quantum key distribution, a groundbreaking protocol harnessing quantum properties to exchange cryptographic keys with unbreakable security guarantees. In this process we will also show that arbitrary quantum bits cannot be copied resulting in the celebrated no-cloning theorem.
