Department of Informatics Education
The main pedagogical aim of the Department of Informatics Education is training of future teachers of computer science. The department cooperates with other computer science programs at the faculty. It provides four semester course on computer literacy for future teachers of all subjects. It also provides basic programming courses for mathematics students.
In addition to teaching, the department also focuses on pedagogical research in informatics education at primary and secondary schools and at universities. It participates in international research on development of educational software environments in context of cognitive processes. It cooperates on development of informatics curriculum development and informatization of primary and secondary schools. Previously, the department participated on implementation and management of the national Infovek project, as well as in the national project on Professional Development of Informatics Teachers (DVUi). The department also takes part in preparation of programming contests (iBobor, CoLogobezka) for primary and secondary schools students and national IT Fitness test for high school and university students.
The department is a center for doctoral training in the field of Theory of Computer Science Education.
