Dennis Bodewits (University of Maryland in College Park USA):
Living with a comet: Rosetta at 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

Abstract:
The Rosetta mission arrived at comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko two years ago. It delivered the Philae lander to its surface and continued to investigate the comet until it landed on the surface in the Fall of 2016. In this seminar I will give an overview of the scientific results obtained with the optical cameras on board Rosetta, OSIRIS. This will include the diversity of the comets spectacular landscapes, the origin of its two lobes and the connection to the formation of our solar system, jets and outbursts, and the physics and chemistry in the inner coma.
