Radiocarbon dating and bayesian chronological analysis
Abstract:
Radiocarbon analysis is often used for the purpose of age determination of samples from archaeological finds or environmental records. When dealing with larger data sets for one location, it is possible to use bayesian chronological analysis for chronological modelling of these locations. This method allows us to combine age determination with historical or archaeological information in order to deepen the understanding of the chronology of the studied site. At this seminar the possible uses of bayesian chronological analysis will be presented, as well as results from dating of the Church of Saint Margaret of Antioch in Kopčany obtained by this method.
