Mgr. Martin Urbanec, PhD. (Silesian university in Opava):
Constraining dense matter with neutron stars

Abstract:
Neutron stars are the most compact astronomical objects with internal structure currently known. The densities in their cores reach values several times higher than the density of the atomic nucleus. The conditions in their interior make neutron stars unique laboratories for studying nuclear physics. In this talk, I will review how X-ray observations and gravitational waves can be used to study dense matter in their cores.
