Odd-Au isotopes: tool for understanding the nuclear deformation

Abstract:
Atomic nuclei with odd number of nucleons offer a unique possibility to establish deformation of parameters, both axial and triaxial. Very specific system are odd-Au isotopes, that have many coexisting structures with different deformations at low excitation energies. In the talk, historical context of odd-Au studies will be presented, together with widely occurring electric monopole transitions, isomeric transitions and systematics of excited states associated with various nucleonic structures. At the Institute of Physics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, extensive datasets for odd-Au isotopes have been collected over past 15 years. This includes in-beam spectroscopy, alpha and beta decay spectroscopy, isomeric spectroscopy and lifetime measurements. The most import results will be summarized.
