Mário Ziman:
Incompatibility of quantum devices
Abstract:
One of the first things we learn about quantum systems is the Heisenberg uncertainty relation. Limitations to measure statistics of non-commutative observables are considered to be one of the key features of quantum physics. In this talk we will introduce the operational paradigm of incompatible devices - the qualitative mathematical origin of the existence of all forms of uncertainties. We will discuss "no-go" implications not only for measurement devices. Further we will formulate this concept for hypothetical general probabilistic theories that exhibit even stronger differences from classical physics, for example regarding the violation of Einstein-Podolski-Rosen idea of local realism.
