Description of the Study Program

Chemical physics is a part of physics that forms the basis for the research of material properties at the level of atoms and molecules. It is closely linked with solid state physics, some parts of plasma physics as well as modeling of the bio-physical systems and quantum chemistry. It has a large impact in theoretical chemistry, research of nano-structures; the study of the dynamics of molecular systems, the description of elementary chemical processes, modeling of the molecular systems in the field of Biophysics, and the investigation of electrical and magnetic properties of the substances. Chemical physics is being studied in all developed countries. Graduates in this field find employment with universities, the Academy of Sciences, as well as in the industrial practice.

Doctoral Scholarships

Full-time doctoral students who have permanent residency in the European Union are entitled to receive a scholarship for the entire standard duration of their studies. The scholarships are paid starting on the date of enrollment. The scholarship is determined in accordance with the tables included in the Law no. 553/2003 Z.z. as follows:

  • prior to completion of the qualification exam: 595,00 EUR (9th class, 1st level)
  • after successful completion of the qualification exam: 693,50 EUR (10th class, 1st level)

Scholarships are not subject to taxes or other fees.

Doctoral studies are considered an equivalent to full time employment and in the majority of cases cannot be combined with another employment. Job holding applicants who intend to keep their job are advised to apply for the external (distance) form of doctoral studies. Doctoral students enrolled in the regular form are expected to participate in teaching activities such as conducting recitations or exam grading, in accordance with the needs of their corresponding departments.
