Názov: Charge calibration in Baikal GVD detector

Termín: 13.12.2017, 14:00 hod., zasadačka KJFB (F1/364)

The nature of the highest energy particles that can be observed in the Universe still remains an open question. The recorded energies of particles coming to the Earth exceeds the energies available in the terrestrial accelerators by several orders.

In April 2017, the second cluster of the Baikal GVD detector has been deployed thus doubling the instrumented volume and the amount of optical modules installed. The aim is to build a new generation deep underwater detector recording high energy neutrinos within 1 km^3 volume in the lake Baikal. High energy neutrinos should interact within the detector and initiate particle cascades which in result should induce Cherenkov light to be observed by the optical modules located in the lake Baikal.

For the energy reconstruction of the detected particles an important procedure is the charge and amplitude calibration of the optical modules. The results of the calibration show that the working conditions of the optical modules do not change substantially within the year.
