Description of the Study Program

The aim of the study program Biomedical Physics is to prepare graduates for further study through master's programme, or for careers in applied areas or interdisciplinary fields where physics meets medicine, biology and chemistry. With a combination of core subjects from areas of medicine and biophysics graduates will acquire a coherent range of knowledge about the effects of physical phenomena on biological materials, and about the structure and function of molecules and biological structures. Education in medical physics constitutes a further basis for specialisation in the development and application of advanced physics methods on medical problems. In general, the graduates are well-prepared to work in an interdisciplinary environment requiring the ability to communicate with colleagues from different disciplines and to apply a diverse range of methods. Their education and knowledge may reduce the risk of errors that arise in the interdisciplinary fields due to underestimation of either the biological or the physical aspects of the problem solved.
